Online Counselling - New Zealand (NZ)

The therapeutic alliance between client and therapist is one of the most important factors in creating positive outcomes, and this relationship can be created effectively through online counselling and psychotherapy.

Our approach to online therapy is much the same as our in-person sessions. We use a mixture of transactional analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy to support you to understand your patterns and make choices that better align with your goals and desires.

While we generally prefer to see people in-person, we are aware that it is not always possible for some people to attend therapy in this way. Online counselling and psychotherapy sessions are a great option for people who are unable to physically attend appointments in our clinic.

We offer online therapy through familiar video conferencing apps (Zoom, Skype, and Teams) for adolescents and adults who are seeking counselling and psychotherapy services and parents who want psychology services for their children. At this stage, we are not seeing children or couples online.

Advantages of online therapy

  • Accessible therapy for people living in areas where there are no suitable therapists available

  • Convenient for those with work or travel schedules that make attending in-person session difficult

  • More comfortable for those with an illness, disability or condition that makes travel difficult

  • Accessing therapy from the comfort of your own home can provide a familiar and relaxed environment to explore any areas of difficulty in your life

  • Meeting with a therapist outside of your living and working area may feel more comfortable
